Worms, Worms, Worms!
Fred's Worms is literally a backyard "bootstrap" business. My mission is to build stewardship in our community through vermiculture. Vermiculture is using worms in the natural cycle of decay and growth to up-cycle ordinarily wasted products into plant ready nutrients.
Over the past 10 years or so, the current 2 bucket system has evolved as a result of continually improvised systems and lots of "learning experiences". The system is manageable; not so big it overheats, easily moved, large enough to permit worms to survive many weeks on their own... perfect for busy people, easy for vacations, designed for forgetful people...like me.
Be part of the solution. We've all heard about global warming, seen how much waste we produce and wondered how we can help. Up-cycling kitchen and paper waste reduces landfill impacts while producing "black gold" fertilizer/soil amendments. Why ship our organics to the dump while importing soil builders through our big box outlets from hundreds of miles away?
Just as one car's exhaust isn't the problem, one set of worm buckets isn't the solution...but consider 10 less cars or 10 homes cutting their trash in half...
